Safe Harbour – a poem

We are your safe harbour,

our pride fills your sails.

We watch as you steer

the high waves and strong gales.

Further you venture,

on the horizon, a dot,

yet more oceans ahead,

home almost forgot.

Sometimes we can’t see you,

but know you’ll turn back

home to your safe harbour

when life deals you flak.

And when the high seas

seem too scary or fraught,

stay in your safe harbour

just like you were taught

and if storms take the wind

right out of your sails,

we’ll fill them with pride,

to face all life’s travails.
